متن کاملAn evidence-based review on urate-lowering treatments: implications for optimal treatment of chronic hyperuricemia
Several studies suggest that chronic hyperuricemia, the main precursor of gout, is involved in the pathogenesis of different systemic disorders that affect cardiovascular and renal systems, such as hypertension, obesity, hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis, metabolic syndrome, chronic heart failure, and chronic kidney disease. Recent epidemiological evidence has shown an increasing trend in t...
متن کاملUrate-Lowering Therapy Ameliorates Kidney Function in Type 2 Diabetes Patients With Hyperuricemia
Background Hyperuricemia often causes kidney dysfunction which increases serum urate, forming a vicious cycle in the kidney. In this study, urate-lowering therapy was demonstrated in type 2 diabetic patients with hyperuricemia to evaluate the effect on diabetic nephropathy. Methods Type 2 diabetic patients with hyperuricemia (n = 34) were treated by urate-lowering drugs. Serum urate levels, e...
متن کاملUtilizing TH9 cells as a novel therapeutic strategy for malignancies
TH9 cells join the ever-growing list of CD4+ T helper subsets and primarily mediate anti-parasite immune responses. We have recently demonstrated that tumor-specific TH9 cells induce a CCL20-CCR6-dependent regulation of DCs while stimulating CD8+ T cell-mediated antitumor immunity. These findings offer a novel immunotherapeutic strategy against cancer.
متن کاملInhibition of semaphorin as a novel strategy for therapeutic angiogenesis.
RATIONALE The axon-guiding molecules known as semaphorins and their receptors (plexins) regulate the vascular pattern and play an important role in the development of vascular network during embryogenesis. Semaphorin (Sema)3E is one of the class 3 semaphorins, and plexinD1 is known to be its receptor. Although these molecules have a role in embryonic vascular development, it remains unclear whe...
